	Debenhams launches Summer Spectacular

	Retail Week has reported Debenhams is set to kick off a frenzy of discounting across the high street with the launch of its ‘Summer Spectacular’ tomorrow. The retailer is offering over £200m of reductions, with up to 25% off throughout the store. Other retailers across the high street are set to follow suit. John Lewis, which aims to match rivals on price through its Never Knowingly Undersold pledge, is already advertising the promotions it will equal on the home page of its website. The 'Summer Spectacular' promotion runs both in-store and online from tomorrow until Sunday May 27 and Debenhams insists it is part of its planned promotional calendar. The retailer is offering promotions across all its departments including half price Radley bags and Denby dinnerware along with 25% off its Designers at Debenhams ranges. Michael Sharp the Debenhams chief executive said: "There really is no better time to lighten the mood of the nation. As the weather improves and attention turns to the holidays and the Jubilee, we will be offering fantastic prices throughout the store and online - at a time when customers need it most."
