Next, whose chief executive is the Conservative peer Lord Wolfson, is thought to be seeking to secure planning permission for up to five sites where it could open home and garden centres, reported Telegraph.
The move comes after Next opened a large concept store in Shoreham, West Sussex, last August which offers an extended range of DIY products and a small garden centre.
But for now, it is focusing on opening at least two more in the year ahead, one near Ipswich and the other near Warrington, with a further five potentially in the pipeline. However, the retailer does expect the process to be slow due to sites requiring planning permission.
