| | 14/03/2013 | Retail Gazette, Gemma Taylor - Online sales rise despite m-commerce slowdown | | | Online sales rise in February | | | Retail Gazette reports that February's online sales increased 13% year-on-year, according to the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, with nearly all sectors reporting double-digit growth. Average basket values declined however, as average spend reached is lowest level since October 2008.
Products linked to Valentine’s Day performed strongly over the month, with the average spend across the Gifts, Healthy & Beauty products and Lingerie sectors rising 36%, 8% and 9% respectively.
Although mobile sales leapt 184% on a year earlier, this represents a significant slowdown on February 2012 when sales grew 304% year-on-year. The Index warned that “there has been a notable dip in the level of growth over the past few months”.
Conversion rates have risen and now remain consistent, reaching 2.3% last month. |
