| | Shopping Centre reports that Bicester Village has retained its ranking as Europe’s most productive outlet scheme according to the latest factory outlet centre performance ranking from Magdus. Bicester Village has held this status since the survey began in 2008.
This report is based on a Europe-wide survey of 80 international brands and manufacturers who ranked McArthurGlen’s designer outlet centre in Roermond, the Netherlands, as the second-most productive.
The brands again ranked McArthurGlen as the most competent and capable operator of outlet centres in Europe. Spanish operator Neinver has fallen from second to third place in tenants’ esteem while Value Retail rises to third.
Outlet occupiers still have plans for expansion, with the typical brand manufacturer intending to open 3 to 4 outlet stores in 2014. Germany is still the main focus of expansion strategies, followed by France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
The brand manufacturers reported that their outlet stores are significantly more profitable than their own shops in the high streets. And equally the outlet centres are generating a higher yield for brand manufacturers than online stores. |
