FSP understands retailers and retailing. Many years of involvement in the retailing industry have enabled the provision of our product SnapShop; a comprehensive database of over 2,000 retailers operating in the UK and Ireland.
A number of these retailers come and go, depending on the climate and overseas interest in the UK market, and whilst many of these retailers are fledgling, or comfortably stuck in their regional rut, there is a core of approximately 500 which we at FSP view as key retailers in the UK market. FSP uses a number of factors to determine the key players in shopping centres, UK high streets and Factory Outlet Centres. These factors include the total number of UK outlets, financial performance, and the general feel of retail news about individual retailers, as well as our own store of knowledge. Financial health of retailers is gauged by combining BIS Wealth Creation Efficiency Ratio, ROTA, significant sales and a healthy operating profit (from analysis of latest financial accounts).
In this uncertain economic climate with retail administrations reaching record high, we record retail sales, measure general news sentiment and record retail administration on over 2,300 retailers thus ensuring that top 500 UK retailer list is updated regularly.
